"Ahwatukee Mountain Biker Wins World Championship
Taylor Lideen of Ahwatukee is mountain biking’s 2009 Under 25 World 24 Hour Solo Champion after winning the title in Canmore Alberta Canada July 24-25. The youngest competitor at 19 in the solo field of 112 he overcame a very difficult course that included 2200 ft of climbing per lap that caused many competitors to drop out due to exhaustion related symptoms. Included among the casualties was last year’s U25 winner Thomas Lindup of New Zealand.
The win is the third ultra endurance off road race in a row for Lideen who also won the 24 Hours of Adrenalin Hurkey Creek in California in April and the inaugural 100 mile Barn Burner in Flagstaff in June. He rides for KHS Bicycles and does much of his training in South Mountain Park, Phoenix AZ."
